Dear Governor Cuomo / Ms. Enck,
My children, Josie and Ray, are ages 10 and 7. We live in the outskirts of the small town of Cooperstown, NY. We garden and keep chickens and have a big goldendoodle dog. Life is beautiful here.
Drilling for natural gas in our backyard stands to ruin that, completely and utterly. Our water source will be ruined. Our air will be unsafe. Our children will be at risk for myriad health problems caused by known endocrine disruptors in fracking fluid, which will be released into our earth. Our house and property will be worthless, and we will be financially ruined. Where will we live?
Please, please, I beg you to do everything in your power to put a stop to this. I voted for you, I continue to have confidence in your decisions, I really believe you are our greatest hope right now.
Please:
*expand the scope of the draft SGEIS to include additional concerns, notably how to manage gas drilling wastewater;
*establish a Citizens and Technical Advisory Committees to help DEC revise the draft SGEIS;
*provide at least 30 days public comment to identify additional issues to be included in the draft SGEIS scope;
*require individual EIS reviews for horizontal hydrofracturing permits, "GA effluent limitations" for hydrofracturing, deep well injection and wastewater treatment as well as update the DEC's 1992 GEIS.
Thank you.
